WEST NYACK - A boil-water order for residents of West Nyack and Central Nyack will remain in effect until at least tomorrow afternoon, officials said this morning.
A second set of water samples was collected this morning and submitted to a laboratory for testing, according to Michael Lovaglio, superintendent of the Nyack Water Department.
"We should get the results sometime Friday afternoon," he said.
Water collected yesterday, after a main near the intersections of routes 59 and 303 was repaired, has already been sent for testing.
Water officials expect to get those results today, Lovaglio.
If those tests, as well as a second round of sampling, show that no bacteria is in the water, the order could be lifted late tomorrow, he said.
Until then, residents and businesses in West Nyack and Central Nyack will have to boil water to kill bacteria before using it.
